SPARKLE N SPRINKLE'S APRIL 1ST REVEAL

Welcome to Sparkle N Sprinkle's
 April 1st Reveal Blog Hop!

This month the Designers were asked to create projects with Want 2 Scrap chipboard products.  If you are able to visit any of the shows that SNS is participating in this year, you will notice SNS now has a larger booth.  Margaret and crew are sharing this new, larger space with Want 2 Scrap.

We wanted to showcase various projects using both SNS products and W2S products together.  Hopefully, you'll see some new uses of these products that you may not have thought of before.  Chipboard can be used for more than scrapbook layouts or mini albums :-).  So sit back, enjoy the Hop and get ready to have those creative juices flowing!

Be sure to visit the SNS Blog all month long for more projects and ideas that incorporate your favorite glitters, embossing powders, and more with the Want 2 Scrap chipboard.

On April 3rd, ONE GRAND PRIZE WINNER will be selected from the comments left on the Designers' blogs listed below. Please leave a comment with each Designer in order to be eligible for the Grand Prize.  You never know who the Mystery Designer will be that has the winning comment.

The Grand Prize Winner, which will be announced on the SNS Facebook page and on the SNS Blog on April 4, will receive a $20 gift certificate to go shopping at the SNS Shoppe.

The Blog Hop order this month is:

(*Tip: if you have difficulty with a particular link, try clicking on the Designer's blog title to send you to their Home page.)

We hope you enjoy the New Reveal Blog Hop as much as we do.  Thanks for joining us and remember to comment on each of the Designers' blogs to be eligible for the Grand Prize.
Wonder who the Mystery Host will be this month????

The Sparkle N Sprinkle Creative Challenge also begins today.  There are lots of prizes and recognition badges.  Come check out how you can become a SNS Featured Artist as well.  The theme is always Anything Goes using Loose Glitter, Embossing Powder, and/or Flock.

If you are a regular follower of mine, you will know that I'm on a Yupo kick right now. This card began with Yupo paper and a few Adirondack inks, shown below:

You simply drop the inks on to the paper and let them explode into one another! It's so fun and even though you use the same inks, no two pieces will ever be the same. It also dries fairly quickly - maybe ten minutes at the most.

The next step was to make the frame. I used the Spellbinders Card Creator Mystical Embrace.

I die cut it from the blue cardstock and applied it with Versamark and heat embossed with Clear Detail. More Versamark was applied and then it was again heat embossed - this time with Super Thick Clear. I cut down the Yupo piece to fit inside the smallest rectangle. It was attached using 1/8" Tearific Tape. Then the larger rectangle was cut from the same blue cardstock for the larger rectangle. Again attached with Tear-ific Tape.

A 4 3/4" x 6 3/4" piece of Super Adhesive Sheet was attached to a piece of lighter blue cardstock. The protective backing was removed and then the entire frame was placed in the center of the sticky surface. I used the big piece of protective sheet to make sure the frame was stuck down well.

Clear detail was applied to the remaining sticky surface and was then heat set.

On to the Want 2 Scrap Chipboard pieces. This is the Large Bird Flourish covered in Versamark and then heat embossed with White Detail first, then Versamark reapplied and Tuscan Sun for the bird and Pear for the branch and leaves.

To match up some of the coloring from the Yupo panel, I put some Magic Speckle on the wing of the bird and the leaves of the branch using the Versamarker Pen, this was heat embossed from underneath, to stop having the EP blowing of the piece.

A little Want 2 Scrap black Self-Adhesive Bling was added for the bird's eye. This piece was attached to the card front with Dimensional Foam. "Music" was covered with Versamark and then applied with Detail Gold. I then repeated that process, to give it a nice coating. The two "sing" pieces were first covered in Versamark and heat embossed with White Detail, then they were applied on their second layer with Gold Coast, just so they had a different tone from the "music" piece. The pieces were attached to the card front using 1/8" Tear-ific Tape. It stuck everything down well.

A 5" x 7" piece of white card was edged with 1/4" Tear-ific Tape, the card front was centered and then Golden Wheat was added to the edges to finish off.

Hope you've enjoyed stopping over today. Next on the Blog Hop is Marie - be sure to take a look and see what this Crafty Gal has up her sleeve!

Until next time,

Shona

  9. Hi, Shona! Can I say that your stained glass masterpiece is one of my all time favorites from your magical little fingers? WOW! Love the idea of using the detail EP first, and then applying the enamel to create complete coverage and that "rounded" dimension on the die cut - thanks for the tip! Beautifully finished card - I think it would look beautiful even without the added chipboard - like a framed piece of modern art! It's a lovely creation, Miss Shona. Thanks for taking me on your artistic journey! (hope you are enjoying Scotland!) xo
